Only half a kilometer from the town of Ibbagamuwa, but giving the feeling of being away from it all, surrounded by various shades of green from the adjoining paddy fields around the coconut estate in which Haritha Niwahana- the eco-friendly Boutique hotel is built ,the view from the rooms is stunning. The sun rising from behind the misty mountains and shining its rays on the paddy fields where birds are trotting about looking for their breakfast is one of the views that one wakes up to in the morning.

Haritha Niwahana is only a few hundred meters away from the historical Batalagoda tank located in Ibbagamuwa. History records that the tank was built in pre Christian times and the ruins of an ancient city have been found around the tank which covers a vast area and is more of a lake although called a tank and provides a delightful picnic site and an opportunity to sit back and enjoy the views.

Ibbagamuwa is a mere twelve kilometers from the town of Kurunegala and is about an hour’s drive to many places of interest such as the Cultural Triangle, elephant orphanage and Kandy.

Haritha Niwahana as the name itself conveys, is an eco friendly project which has carefully and effectively blended modern facilities while preserving the environment. The rooms with hot & cold water, Air conditioning and TV with over fifty channels, open out to paddy fields at the back and beautifully landscaped gardens in front. The six rooms consist of a family, deluxe and double rooms. Guests have the option of having their meals outside under the shade of the trees in the company of a variety of multi-colored birds gossiping away, totally unconcerned about the human beings around them, or in the large glass fronted restaurant overlooking the paddy fields.

The restaurant is becoming increasingly popular for wedding receptions and various other functions due to the quality of food and the green environment. Most of the vegetables are organically grown in the property itself and guests have the choice of picking their own vegetables for the experienced chefs to prepare to their liking. The restaurant offers local, Western and fusion food and the friendly chefs would willingly pack picnic lunches if necessary. The sprawling lawns can accommodate a large crowd for open air receptions.
